Homemade Cornbread
Homemade Cornbread

This recipe is adapted from the side of a cornmeal container!  It is easy and delicious!


1 1/4 cups flour
3/4 cup corn meal
1/4 cup sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
1/4 cooking oil (such as vegetable oil or canola oil)
1 egg, beaten


1.  Heat oven to 400°.  Grease an 8 or 9 inch pan.

2.  Combine flour, corn meal, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl.

3.  Add milk, oil, and egg, mixing until dry ingredients are moistened.

4.  Pour batter into prepared pan.  Bake 20-25 minutes or until light golden brown and wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.

Makes 9 servings
