Anthony's Breadstick Cheese Dip |
When I was growing up there was a small chain of local party stores called Anthony’s (there’s only one location left now). They had a “Special” which was a piece of (square) pizza, 6 of the best breadsticks you’ve ever had in your life and your choice of pizza sauce or cheese dip. All this for $2.50! It was an amazing deal!
But even more amazing was the cheese dip. This stuff is THE best stuff you will ever eat in your life! I’m pretty sure it is regional, because when I moved to the east side of Metro Detroit no one had even heard of it! Now there are a few places other than Anthony’s that make it, but Anthony’s is by far the best.
I have to warn you though, this stuff is addicting, and you may never be able to eat breadsticks without it again!
Anthony’s Breadstick Cheese Dip Recipe
Ingredients:
-
8 oz. cream cheese (brick style, not whipped)
-
½ cup sour cream
-
¼ teaspoon salt
-
¼ teaspoon garlic powder
-
¼ teaspoon white pepper (do not substitute black pepper)
Instructions:
-
In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese with an electric mixer on high speed until light and fluffy.
-
Add the sour cream, salt, garlic powder, and white pepper. Mix until smooth and creamy.
-
Transfer to a covered container and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.
This recipe makes enough dip for about two dozen breadsticks — or just enough to get hooked!
Tips & Serving Ideas
-
Serve warm with soft, buttery breadsticks or garlic knots.
-
Try it as a dip for pizza crusts, pretzels, or even veggies.
-
Double the batch for parties — it disappears fast!

Finally someone has shared the Secret of Anthony's garlic cheese dip. My aunt and uncle used to get it too and apparently there is still an Anthony's around. We live in west Bloomfield and all of the pizza places around there sell it
