This pizza is sure to be a hit at your house!

It is the favorite for everyone in my house.  My kids fell in love with it when they first had it at California Pizza Kitchen.  CPK may have invented it, but I have to admit I like this homemade version better!

I highly recommend shredding your own cheese.  Pre-shredded cheese has an additive that prevents it from sticking that doesn’t allow the creamy, melty, smoothness you get when you shred your own.

A pizza stone will work best, but if you don’t have one just use a pizza pan or cookie sheet…whatever you have!

This recipe will make 1 pizza.

BBQ Chicken Pizza


½ recipe Real-Deal Pizzeria Pizza Dough
½ cup BBQ sauce (try my Homemade Barbecue Sauce!)
6 oz. Cooked & Ready Chicken Breast Strips (try my homemade version here!)
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
¼ cup red onion, chipped


1.  Place pizza stone in oven, if using.  Heat oven to 550°.  While oven is preheating, flatten and stretch dough into a 12 to 14-inch circle, depending on desired thickness (or how big your pan is, if using one).

2.  Place the dough on a large piece of parchment paper.

If using a pizza stone, you need a peel to get the unbaked pizza onto the stone.  If you do not have one you can use a rim-less cookie sheet (this is what I use), or use an upside down cookie sheet to slide the parchment with the unbaked pizza onto the stone.

3.  Build your pizza either on the parchment-lined pan you will cook in, or the parchment-lined pan or peel you will use to transfer it to the stone.

Spread the BBQ sauce almost to the edge of dough, leaving room for the crust.  Top with chicken.  Cover the sauce and chicken with mozzarella cheese.  Sprinkle onions evenly over cheese.

4.  Bake for 4-6 minutes, or until crust is golden and cheese is melted.
