Anthony's Breadstick Cheese Dip |
When I was growing up there was a small chain of local party stores called Anthony’s (there’s only one location left now). They had a “Special” which was a piece of (square) pizza, 6 of the best breadsticks you’ve ever had in your life and your choice of pizza sauce or cheese dip. All this for $2.50! It was an amazing deal!
But even more amazing was the cheese dip. This stuff is THE best stuff you will ever eat in your life! I’m pretty sure it is regional, because when I moved to the east side of Metro Detroit no one had even heard of it! Now there are a few places other than Anthony’s that make it, but Anthony’s is by far the best.
I have to warn you though, this stuff is addicting, and you may never be able to eat breadsticks without it again!
Anthony’s Breadstick Cheese Dip
Ingredients
8 oz. cream cheese (in a brick, not a tub)
½ cup sour cream
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon garlic powder
¼ teaspoon white pepper (do not substitute black pepper)
Directions
1. Beat cream cheese with an electric mixer on high speed until whipped and creamy.
2. Add remaining ingredients and mix until smooth.
3. Place in a container and cover; refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
Makes enough dip for 2 dozen breadsticks.

Finally someone has shared the Secret of Anthony's garlic cheese dip. My aunt and uncle used to get it too and apparently there is still an Anthony's around. We live in west Bloomfield and all of the pizza places around there sell it
